NOW 1.0 final settlement – what does this mean for you?

These are still turbulent times. The corona crisis is not over yet and as an entrepreneur you are faced with difficult choices. As your advisor and auditor, we are happy to be of assistance in these challenging times. We would like to draw your attention to the final settlement of the Temporary Emergency Bridging Measure for Sustained Employment (Noodfonds Overbrugging Werkgelegenheid; NOW) scheme and the accounting required for this in the Netherlands.
Final compensation NOW 1.0 scheme
Have you made use of the NOW 1.0 scheme during the period from April to 5 June 2020? The amount paid at the time was based on your estimate of the loss of turnover due to the corona crisis.
As of 7 October, you have the obligation to file accounts, in which you indicate the actual loss of turnover. Your final compensation will subsequently be determined on the basis of these. If your loss of turnover is less than estimated, you may have to repay (a part of) the compensation.
What does this specifically mean for you?
Depending on the amount of the compensation, additional information is required with the accounts. For example, you may be required to provide an auditor’s report or a third-party statement. The overview below outlines which form of accounting applies to your company. A number of additional rules apply here.
